MOVEMENTS
FIRST KNOW THE SIMPLE MOVEMENTS OF THE VARIOUS CHESS PIECES
RIGHTLY THEN ONLY YOU ARE READY TO MOVE.REMEMBER THAT ALL CAPTURES WILL TAKE
THE POSITION OF THEIR RESPECTIVE CAPTURES WILL TAKE THE POSITION OF THEIR
RESPECTIVE CAPTURES.NO MATTER ,WHATSOEVER ARE ITS OPPORTUNITIES AS CHESS PIECES
CANNOT MAKE MOVE THAN ONE CAPTURE AT A TIME .BUT IF THERE IS A CHOICE FOR MORE
THAN ONE .IT IS WISE TO CAPTURE THE POWERFUL ONE.
PAWN
Pawns are the
weakest ones in the game and are allowed to move in one direction only straight
ahead.A pawn can advance 1or 2 squares according to players wish on the first
move, but for other moves only one square at one cast.Pawn gets blocked and
cannot move if there is a piece in its front and can move only if the piece is
removed. The pawn can capture piece of the opposition appearing diagonally ahead
of it either right or left. When the pawn reaches the first raw at its rivals
side ,it is exchanged for the queen or any thing else than the king.
BISHOP
The movement of bishop is the
diagonal one.Being a bit stronger then the pawns it can move backwards along-with forward moves. It can move to as many diagonal squares as are vacant
.It can capture the opponent on the same diagonal.
QUEEN
Queen is the most powerful piece of the board, with a
combined movement of bishop and rook.It can move forward and backward
vertically, horizontally and diagonally. It is able to capture any piece coming
in its way
ROOK
The rook can move in a straight line, either across or up and
down the board. Its movements are horizontal and vertical along the vacant
squares, either in forward or backward direction.
KNIGHT
The knight moves in a strange fashion. It
can GALLOP OVER ONE SQUARE and land onto a square of different color on its
left or right side.So if it is on a white square it moves to a black one and
vice versa.
KING
Alike the pawns ,the king too can move one
square at a time but in all directions. The king can move to any direction it
likes and can capture any piece occupying its adjacent square. The king cannot
move into check
CHECK AND CHECKMATE
The king when captured cannot be taken off from the board.A
player when captures the king of his opponent and says check then the captive
king is in check .a captive king can obtain freedom in three ways
- If it captures the checking piece.
- If it moves to an adjacent square ,free from check
- if one of the pieces of the defending party is moved so as to interpose between the king and the checking piece thus intercepting the check, provided the checking pieces is not a knight.
WHEN A PLAYER FAILS TO FREE HIS KING BY ANY ONE OF THESE
THREE METHODS,HIS KING IS CHECK MATED AND THE OPPONENT PARTY WINS THE
GAME
